The Business of Marriage and Medals

This book is not your average Olympic journey.  It is written in equal voice and is a raw and honest account of our nearly 13 years in elite sport representing Canada. An athletic story with a twist, The Business of Marriage and Medals brings home relationship gold! With insight, integrity and compassion, Jeff and Aly Pain reflect on their lives, their marriage and their careers, revealing what they have learned—and learned the hard way—about thriving in stressful situations and building successful and sustainable partnerships along the way.

The stories I share in the book are about my personal life as the wife of an Olympic athlete written from a business perspective.

Writing a book was an incredibly cleansing process, along with a very steep learning curve!  The idea of taking many stories and thoughts, spread over 13 years, and creating succinct learning points seemed insurmountable.

Thanks to many months of practice and the support of our team, we got it done.  I was able to articulate the greatest challenges and successes and then write them in a way that would be most relatable to the audience.  

It was difficult to relive the tough times and a joy to remember the celebrations, then see them all strung together as a gift of what we have now.

From this I was able to discover simple coaching tools and tips that would support each story to leave the reader with a greater opportunity to make change in their relationships.

What a celebration of everything we had been through to create success in a very non-traditional way!
